“Share/Show” is a new initiative of Robert Mark Dance that focuses on inviting audiences into the process of new works, while also presenting pieces from the company’s repertoire. On December 6th and 7th, 2019, Artistic Director Robert Mark Burke will share with audiences ideas for his new work, “in depth.” The evening will also include performances of work spanning the company’s five-year history, most notably being his latest collaboration with composer Mark Sanderlin.
“Share/Show” is being presented in collaboration with the CHIRP program at County Prep High School in Jersey City. As part of the program, Robert has spent time teaching and creating with the County Prep High School Dance Majors, under the direction of Heather Warfel, in exchange for after school access to rehearsal space. As an added initiative, Robert Mark Burke is encouraging patrons and supporters of the arts to “Pay-It-Forward” as a way to provide the County Prep High School students free access to the performances.
“I’m incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to work so closely with so many students and young artists. I’ve always wanted to figure out a way for Robert Mark Dance to improve access and create a model that supports young artists who need financial assistance to see more dance. My hope is that we can offer tickets to as many students as possible as a way to broaden their experiences and create new conversations about what art is or could be.”
“Share/Show” will take place at County Prep High School (525 Montgomery St., Jersey City, NJ 07302) on Friday December 6, 2019 at 7:30pm and Saturday December 7, 2019 at 2:30pm. Tickets are $5 and available online (https://robertmarkdance.ticketleap.com/shareshow/details) and at the door.
