Founded in 1983, The Hudson Reporter publishes nine weekly newspapers, capturing the highest home-delivered circulation of any newspaper in Hudson County. Our award-winning periodicals also include specialty publications and two, glossy magazines: Jersey City Magazine and Palisade.

The past few years have brought tremendous change to the western banks of the Hudson River.

As newcomers flock to the area and explore their surroundings, long-time residents are meeting their neighbors - and discovering new opportunities - at every turn.

Luxury developments line the riverbanks, and boutiques, restaurants and art galleries are opening every week. Young families fill the streets with baby carriages. Empty nesters and young artists wait together for trains running along the expanding light rail system.

But change can be hard. Transformation does not come easily.

How does one gain a sense of community in a new and evolving place? Where can you turn for resources, entertainment and a bird's-eye view of our home along the Hudson?

We created hudsonreporter.com to answer some of those questions, yet we hope it will do more. We'd like our site to be a sort of meeting place a town square, if you will, where you can read about the people, politics and places that make living here so exciting.

Your article on DC Robert Delpriore didn't state anything about his sexual harassment of a female officer this was reported in your paper, he was not liked by most real cops due to his nepotism and lack of real leadership skills- he was forced out of office and had a lawsuit againest the township- These facts were obviously omitted by your paper due to the fact that he had passed away- Good ridence to him death was too good for this clown

As part of the Hudson community, I would like to warn the residents about a business that has opened up. Mario Michele Studio recently opened up their photography studio in Hobeken. The mother/daughter/son-in-law/ team lacks professionalism and client service. They have signed contracts starting from 6000 - 13,000 and have not produced all the deliverables. They ignore phone calls and hardly acknowledge emails. They have a F rating from the BBB and have numerous complaints online.

Saving Secaucus's & NJ station My 9 WWOR TV sending out an SOS

8 days ago | 310 views | 1 | 10 | | Dear Editor:

My 9, not New Jersey's My 9 WWOR-TV even though it is located in Secaucus and licensed to New Jersey. They just announced that they will kill their 10 pm newscast and air at 11pm against three other network newscasts and cut it in half to a half an hour and cancel their weekend news all together.

New Jersey this a wakeup call if you don't write the station, your legislators and become an active New Jersey citizen we stand lose not only our only fully commercial VHF station, But our NJ voice. We need to send Rupert Murdoch a clear message that he needs to respect New Jersey and while he gave us a different voice politically he is taking New Jersey's voice away.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Murdoch, however when it comes at the expensive of our station then I have a problem. The game plan for channel 9 seems to be making it a shadow network to plug and promote its bigger, more glamorous sister station Fox 5 NY! With the cancellation, of our New Jersey newscast on 9 they announced they will expand GOOD DAY NEW YORK by adding another hour to its marathon already. They are also taking the new Wendy Williams Show (it will have a first run at 10 am on Fox 5 first) and putting that on ch. 9 at 10 pm where our jersey centric newscast is supposed to be all in the name of maximizing exposure and ad sales for sister station Fox 5. NY. New Jersey let's not lose our only Jersey station that produced some great shows and personalities like Joe Franklin, Morton Downey Jr., Sara Lee Kessler, Jennifer Valoppi, Matt Lauer and Lloyd Lyndsay Young just to name a few.

While Fox is saying that this is all being done because of the economic crisis this has been going on since they bought the station over in 2001 and became a duopoly.

In fact, nearly two years ago, there was an FCC licensing meeting about Ch 9 where Senator Frank Lautenberg put on a show and said he was challenging Ch. 9's inadequate coverage of New Jersey. The only thing to come of that meeting was a name change for their website from my9ny.com to my9tv.com it seems they should have kept it because at least it was accurate.

However, New Jersey we can send Murdoch a real message one that he will listen to and be obligated to respond. Let him know that our New Jersey studios in Secaucus should go back to producing Great New Jersey TV shows. They have one the area’s best multi-million dollar studios which are dormant and unused; they can be doing a talk show there, game shows, cooking show, or adding our own Good Day Jersey show. This would be showing us Mr. Murdoch that New Jersey Matters and not just broadcasting hot air! We need our New Jersey Media!

Since the arrests occurred early Thursday and the FBI-US Attorney press conference was Thursday afternoon, your edition must have been ready for printing, so you had to shout "Stop the presses" and work like fiends to write and place the story that y6ou absolutely positively could NOT leave for a week. A job well done.

I want to point out what I believe is a case where business has overstepped its bounds and trod on quality of life and the spirit of the city,

\Childrens Dental at 3700 Kennedy blvd has decided to promote its business by painting the stately rock wall along the street purple! This is an abomination and an insult to the history and respectibility of Kennedy blvd. OK it's not 5th avenue of NYC but it is still the grandest street in Union and Jersey City , In fact it was once called Hudson avenue and home to mansions and the famous names of the area like Hague Howe Dr, Pascarell . Grand stone walls line Kennedy blvd and remind us of our rich history And the prestigous address it once was. This stone was cut and laid by the European immigrants and artisians. So it is an ancestgral link to our past.

Perhaps the current owner doesnt care about history but he has gone too far and is out to ruin the character of the street and make it a joke- I plna to write the town about this

During a recent visit to Hoboken to clean out my mom's apartment (she recently passed away), I parked in front of her bldg, which by the way was 'not' properly marked "Resident Only" and after only being there for 15 minutes I was booted and had to pay the $150 fine to have the boot removed. This is TOTAL BS!! Hoboken is totally out of control with the no-parking situation. With all these town houses and up scale condos being built you would think the city would build a parking lot somewhere on River Road - so much land yet it is all being sold for condo / townhouse development. Where are visitors to park. Again, what was a very sad and emotional day for having to clean out her apartment became a very enfuriating visit when I realized not even 15 minutes of being there I had gotten the boot! Doesn't Hoboken have better things to do? This is total BS! And I will have my day in court as this street is NOT PROPERLY marked, and even if it was, there is just not enough Visitor Parking areas at all. Again total BS! You could at least give a person a small ticket as a warning and if 2 hrs later the car is there then I would justify putting the boot but on top of having to pay the $150 fine, they give you a $68.00 ticket, again total BS! I don't care how fancy Hoboken gets, if you are going to put the boot on every visitor, that just SUCKS!

Any news about North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue? I heard that a certain judge ordered the Dept of Personnel to comprise a new list of about 3000 candidates from all of Hudson, Essex, and I believe Passaic counties. Our men and women don't even get residency points. Is he kidding? If this is true, I sure hope that I see action taken by political figures and news agencies in support of our candidates who are getting the shaft.

Folks: Last week I commented on two issues. That upin the air nose of Sheldon. Now someone proposes parking fees like in Hoboken. Well for those who have driveways & their vehicles remain out on the streest shud B fined 4 being on the streets while their driveways R empty.

The other issue is those Pet owners who let their dogs DUMP & quietly walk by leaving that pile unattended. There shud B a way 2 ticket them.
