Private funeral services have been held for Kathleen C. Hoffman, 72. She died Feb. 16 at Jersey City Medical Center. Born Dec. 28, 1940, and the daughter of the late Mary (Donaghue) and Joseph Cote, she was raised in Danvers, Mass. before coming to Jersey City 40 years ago. She received her B.A. in History from St. Elizabeth’s College in Convent Station and was a member of the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth for 15 years. She received her MA in guidance counseling from Fordham University. She taught elementary school in South Boston for several years, returned to as guidance counselor at St. Mary’s High School Jersey City and Bayley Ellard High School in Madison. After serving as manager of the Jersey City office of Kelly Service, she returned to education, working at St. Elizabeth’s College, Hudson County Community College, St. Peter’s College and finally as director of the student support services program at IT for seventeen years until her retirement in 2010. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Vincent Hoffman, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Services arranged by the Greenville Memorial Home, Jersey City.
