A celebration of the life of Roy Lee Evans of Jersey City was held May 24 at Wynnton Hill Baptist Church in Columbus, Ga. He passed away May 16 at the Veterans Hospital in Lyons. Roy was a faithful member of Monumental Baptist Church in Jersey City. He became a Mason in 1957 at the Prince Hall Lodge. Roy served the United States honorably in World War II in France and Germany. He was a diligent employee of Western Electric in Kearny for 35 years. Surviving to cherish Roy’s memory are daughters Juanita Evans Rodriguez and Lillie Bell Evans Kennedy (Ronald); granddaughters Markieta Santa Rodriguez Lloyd and Jamara A. Franklin Springfield; great-grandchildren Aaron Alexander Rodriguez, Summer Joy Rose and Travis Brien Minus; great-great-grandchildren Aaron and Arieana Rodriguez and Derrick E. Springfield, Jr.; nieces Sharen Evans Andrews and Tanya Hitchcock; sister in law Jean Evans Lassiter, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services arranged by the Progressive Funeral Home in Georgia and the Jackson Funeral Residence, Jersey City.
