HUDSON COUNTY – A flash flood watch is in effect from 2 p.m. Friday through the evening in New Jersey, according to the Hudson County Office of Emergency Management.
Heavy rains throughout the day may result in saturated ground and excessive runoff. Rainfall up to 1 inch accumulation is forecast statewide, with locally higher amounts of 2 inches in the afternoon and evening. Amounts over 2 inches may occur in isolated areas.
Localized flooding is possible in areas of heaviest and persistent rainfall. Streams and creeks may rise rapidly and significant roadway flooding is possible in some locations. Ponding may occur on roads, in low-lying areas or where drainage is poor. Visibility may be hampered when driving through heavy downpours. Monitor local alerts for flash flooding.
