A funeral mass was offered Jan. 7 at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hoboken, for Filomena (Phyllis) Smith. She was born, raised, and was a lifelong resident of Hoboken. She passed away peacefully on Jan. 2 after a long illness. She was born in Hoboken to Irene and Anthony Dimonde. She worked at Coldwell Banker in Hoboken for many years as a real estate salesperson. Phyllis was a mother, sister, niece, aunt and friend who will be remembered for her remarkable strength, courage, resilience, and devotion to her children. Phyllis is survived by her son Edward Smith and his partner Christine Malone; her daughter Irene Wroblewski (nee Smith) and her husband Joseph; her sister Irene Folise and her husband George; her stepchildren Doreen, Bryan and Davyd Smith; granddaughter Toni Ann Cerbo and many adored nieces, nephews and cousins, too numerous to be named individually. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Gerald Smith, a Hoboken firefighter, and by her son Nicky Cerbo, her stepson Gerald Smith, her sister Lillian Raccioppi and her husband Michael and her brother Joseph Dimonde, in addition to her constant companions, her aunts, Lena Reilly and Rose Della Fave.
