Bayonne Medical Center was recognized this week by the New Jersey Healthcare Quality Institute during their Quarterly Quality Breakfast, with Chief Hospital Executive Dr. Vijayant Singh speaking to the assembled healthcare leaders about the hospital being named a Top Teaching Hospital by The Leapfrog Group two years in a row.
Bayonne Medical Center was one of only 12 New Jersey hospitals who received a 2018 Top Hospitals Award from the national healthcare nonprofit. Bayonne Medical Center was the only Hudson County hospital to receive a 2018 Top Hospital Award from Leapfrog.
The NJHCQI’s quarterly breakfast included an interactive forum and touched on multiple topics including the 2018 performance metrics for The Leapfrog Group’s Top Hospital Ratings, as well as the upcoming changes to the 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Survey and Ratings Programs. Leaders of New Jersey’s Top Hospitals discussed the best practices being implemented in their own hospital systems in order to achieve top ratings.
Only 118 hospitals across the United States were named a 2018 Top Hospital by Leapfrog and of that only 53 were named Top Teaching hospitals. Scoring includes a number of factors including performance across many areas of hospital care including surgical quality, preventing infections, use of technology to prevent errors and reduction of C-sections and leadership policies and practices.
