A memorial service was held March 3 for Michael Francis Nolan, 66, a lifelong resident of Jersey City. He passed away Feb. 27. A member of the Irish community, Michael was a long-standing member of The Jersey City St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee and Ancient Order of Hibernians, Hudson County. He was “Irishman of the Year” in 2002 and “Grand Marshall” in 2007 of the Jersey City St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Michael was also “Hibernian of the Year” in 2007. Michael worked for many years with Wilson Carpet and also owned RAM Floors in Jersey City. He enjoyed being very social and was a well-known bartender in many taverns throughout Jersey City. Michael was the father of Stacey Nolan, Candice and son-in-law Bryan Peck, and U.S. Navy Chief Raymond Nolan; brother of Thomas J. Nolan, Jr., Mary Curtin, JoAnn Malavasi and the late Robert, James and Loretta; also survived by many nieces, nephews and in-law’s.
