POSTER OF IN THE PALACE OF THE PLANET KING BY Edwin Rivera-Arias

Edwin Rivera-Arias, a Cuban-Colombian playwright from Bayonne, will have his first full-length work for the theatre, “In the Palace of The Planet King,” produced in the Downtown Urban Arts Festival. The single performance will be on May 9 at 8 p.m. at The Wild Project, 195 East 3rd St., New York.

The play focuses on two “streeted-down been-around men and a crawling mute” who find themselves locked away in a bleak and sinister institution they can’t puzzle out. Soon enough it dawns on them that the game’s been fixed at jump street. In other words, they might be doomed to a life sentence and– wouldn’t you know it?– there ain’t a parole board in sight.

The play stars veterans of Broadway, TV and film, Kevin Bernard, Willie C. Carpenter, Francisco Solorzano and Willie Carpenter and is directed by Nelson Avidon.

Tickets are $20 and be purchased here.
