The UBS Atrium Series continues its series of free midday music with The Zach Brock Trio on Wednesday, May 8 at 12:30 pm. The concert will take place in the Atrium at 1000 Harbor Boulevard in the Lincoln Harbor section of Weehawken.
Heralded as “the pre-eminent improvising violinist of his generation,” Zach Brock is a violinist and composer whose music draws on the traditions of jazz, classical, world, and popular music. Zach received a Grammy Award in 2017 for his work on Snarky Puppy’s album Culcha Vulcha and Downbeat Magazine named him the ‘Rising Star Violinist’ of 2013.
Brock has garnered praise for his work with legendary bassist Stanley Clarke, contemporary instrumental super-group Snarky Puppy, and jazz masters Phil Markowitz and Wycliffe Gordon. He has also represented the U.S. State Department as a Musical Ambassador and performed as a featured soloist for two Sundance Festival feature film scores.
Zach will be joined by drummer Clarence Penn who has worked with A-list artists including Ellis and Wynton Marsalis, Betty Carter, Stanley Clarke and Michael Brecker, to name a few. Penn is also a prolific recording artist who has played on several hundred studio albums. Rounding out the trio will be bassist Yasushi Nakamura who has performed around the world with jazz greats such as Frank Kimbrough, Wynton Marsalis, Hank Jones, and many more!
All performances for the UBS Atrium Series begin at 12:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public and the venue is wheelchair accessible. Parking is available in the adjacent outdoor lot and public transportation options include NJ Transit Bus #158 as well as the Hudson Bergen Light Rail to Lincoln Harbor.
