Jersey City’s Community Chorus, “North River Sing,” will present its 5th annual Spring Swingin’ Concert on Sunday, June 9, at 4.p.m. at Grace Church Van Vorst in Jersey City. The concert will feature jazz and Broadway standards and favorites.
Some of Broadway’s best songs will be featured in the group’s repertoire. These include “Ballad of Sweeney Todd,” (Sweeney Todd), “Winter’s on the Wing” (Secret Garden), “Everybody Says Don’t” (Anyone Can Whistle), “I Got the Sun in the Mornin’” (Annie Get your Gun), “Hear the People Sing” (Les Miserables), “In Whatever Time We Have” (Children of Eden), “Sing for your Supper” (The Boys from Syracuse), “You’re Nothing Without Me” (City of Angels) and “Heart” (Damn Yankees).
The concert will also feature favorites such as “Just One of Those Things,” “Dream a Little Dream,” “That Old Black Magic” and more!
Founded in 2014, North River Sing takes its name from the part of the Hudson River that runs between New York City and New Jersey. From Bayonne and Jersey City to Rutherford and West Orange, the community chorus has attracted members all around the area.
North River Sing now includes nearly 50 singers, and is under the musical direction of the talented and creative Conrad Chu.
The concert is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted. Light refreshments will be provided following the event. Grace Church is located at 39 Erie St. at 2nd. Hope to see you there!
