Private funeral services have been held for Eliud Medina, 64. He passed away Aug. 10 at Columbus Hospital in Newark. Born in Puerto Rico, Eliud moved to Bayonne in 1972 at the age of 17. He worked as a truck driver with the All City Trucking Company in Jersey City, a position he held for over 17 years. A longtime antique car buff, Eliud came across a 1974 Chevy Nova in a junk yard one day, and despite the fact that it was just a shell with a driver’s seat, he used his remarkable knowledge and expertise to restore and rebuild it to its original glory, complete with motor, paint job, and interior restoration. Eliud took extreme pride in his finished product and had it garage kept with the motor and transmission changed every five years. He also had a passion for building model cars along with movable parts. His enthusiastic outlook on life and inspiration to his family and friends will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Eliud was predeceased by his parents, Juan Medina and Maria Nunez; his granddaughter Anaya; and eight brothers and sisters. Left to cherish his memory are his longtime companion and soul mate of 40 years, Maria Garcia; three daughter, Rose Garcia, Omayra Medina, and Griselle Maldonado, and one sister Miriam Medina. Services arranged by the Dworzanski Funeral Home, Bayonne.
