Senior fraud information sessions to be held this month

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced that the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor is hosting two Senior Fraud information sessions for Hudson County residents this month.

The free sessions will provide educational information on identity fraud and scams as well as security and safety. The material is directed at senior citizens, but all residents are encouraged to attend.

There will be promotional items handed out, and the first 25 participants at each session will receive a free smoke detector.

The first event will be held jointly by the Prosecutor’s Office and the Kearny Police Department on Sept. 12, between 10 and 11 a.m. at the Henrietta Benstead Senior Center at 60 Columbia Avenue in Kearny.

The second event will be held on Sept. 19, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the first-floor community room at the Maureen Collier Senior Center at 335 Bergen Ave. in Jersey City.

U.S. Postal Inspector Michael Bruno will provide information about identity theft, scams, and financial exploitation.

Both events are free and all residents are invited to attend.
