North Bergen offers online ‘Business Smarts’ workshops
Valuable business tips are offered on online workshops.

As local businesses struggle to remain afloat during the COVID-19 pandemic, municipalities are stepping in to lend a helping hand. North Bergen is offering online business workshops that may offer local businesses key advice during the ongoing crisis.

Last year, North Bergen in partnership with the Hudson County Economic Development Corporation (HCEDC) offered a series of “Business Smarts” workshops for new and prospective businesses. Attendee feedback was extremely positive about the information and guidance provided.

This year the series returns with two new workshops to support local businesses and provide the tools needed to succeed. The workshops won’t be in-person this year due to COVID-19.

Instead, they will be interactive webinars, so anyone can participate remotely. Registration is free and can be completed online.

Small businesses are suffering

The webinars this year may give insight and support to local businesses to help survive during the COVID-19 pandemic. All non-essential businesses have been ordered closed by Gov. Phil Murphy, and many small businesses are struggling to survive and adapt to the new restrictions.

The webinar Marketing Research Tools will be held on May 6, and Digital Marketing and Social Media on June 17.

In the Marketing Research Tools workshop, attendees can gain a practical understanding of marketing research techniques and tools. Residents can learn how to develop a marketing strategy by using free resources to access customer demographics, spending habits, and industry trends.

In the Digital Marketing and Social Media workshop, attendees can learn about Search Engine Optimization, effective use of websites, and selecting the right social media platform for their businesses.

Digital marketing is an important part of the promotional mix, and social media platforms are valuable tools to use in marketing communications strategy.

Registration is required at www.hudsonedc.org/education. For more information visit the website or contact Tammy Watterman at 201-359-4370.

A link to the webinar will be e-mailed to all registered participants prior to the workshop.
