State of the City cancelled

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Bayonne has cancelled the State of the City address and some public meetings.

Mayor Davis was scheduled to give the State of the City address in Bayonne on April 16. According to a spokesperson for the city, it is too early to say if it will be rescheduled or cancelled entirely.

A number of other public gatherings and meetings have been cancelled.

The April 14 Planning Board Meeting at 6 p.m. has been cancelled. Likewise, the Zoning Board Meeting on April 20 at 6 p.m. has been cancelled.

MOTBY traffic advisory

Starting Friday, April 17, and lasting until early 2021, the Pulaski Lane West roadway at the former Military Ocean Terminal will be closed for construction.

The only in roads available will be Goldsborough Drive and Chosin Few Way.

Recycling pickup changes

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the city’s garbage and recycling contractor is dealing with personnel shortages. Recycling pickup for Bayonne will alternate weeks between paper products and plastic and glass.

According to Mayor James Davis, pickup days will not change. However, each week only one recycling product will be picked up at a time.

For the week beginning on April 20, only put out plastic and glass recycling. For the week beginning on April 27, only put out paper and cardboard.

This alternating schedule will continue until further notice. It’s important to remember that garbage and recycling pickups may start as early as 3 a.m. on the scheduled day. Residents are advised to put out garbage and recycling the night before.
