The Central Avenue S.I.D. Management Corporation seeks creative proposals for public art installations within the Central Avenue shopping district.
Selected artwork will be commissioned for installation in the late summer or early fall with proposals submitted by Friday, July 24.
“Central Avenue believes the arts are more important now than ever before. We hope that adding new artwork on the Main Street will not only add color but a brighter perspective to our current situation.” said Sanford Fishman, president of the Central Avenue Special Improvement District and Owner of Bond Drugs at 371 Central Ave. in Jersey City.
This year will mark Central Avenue’s eleventh consecutive year installing artwork.
With more than 20 murals on the avenue, the colorful artwork is appreciated by hundreds of shoppers each day.
Artists interested in participating must complete and adhere to the guidelines in the Request for Proposal (RFP) which is available online at www.JCHeights.com.
A hard copy of the application can also be obtained from the CASID office at 366 Central Avenue, Suite 201.
The program has been managed by the CASID and made possible by a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a division of the Department of State, and administered by the Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs, Hudson County Executive, and the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
