This week, Stephen Gregg Park will be closed to vehicle traffic so that Bayonne students can have their drive-in graduation.
The Bayonne Board of Education (BOE) will be conducting graduation ceremonies in Stephen R. Gregg- Hudson County Park this week for eighth grade and high school students.
The ceremonies will occur between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. daily on June 23, 24 and 25.
BOE personnel will post at the southwest corner of the park, in the parking lot, where the ceremonies will occur. Graduates will participate from within a vehicle only.
Vehicles will enter from the 37th Street entrance to the park only. Vehicles will travel north on Park Drive to a checkpoint at Dillon Drive.
Graduates will then be permitted to continue north while non-participants will be directed west on Dillon Drive to exit the park, as only vehicles participating in the graduation will be permitted in the park.
Vehicles will follow the normal traffic pattern flow to the Graduation Post, queuing on the right-hand side of the roadway. The Dillon, Devlin, and 48th Street entrances to the park will be closed to all traffic.
All posts and closures will begin at 2:00 pm on each date, unless otherwise noted. Variable message boards with traffic advisories will be posted at the entrances to the park at 37th Street and Kennedy Blvd and at 48th Street and Kennedy Blvd.
The park will be closed to all non-participating vehicles but will remain fully open to all pedestrians. No restrictions will be placed upon those pedestrians other than normal and Covid-19 restrictions in place.
The Bayonne Police Traffic Unit will post emergency ‘No Parking’ signs on both sides of Devlin and Dillon Drives, between Park Drive and Kennedy Blvd.
Parking will be prohibited on June 23, 24 and 25 Streets between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
