A Bayonne man was arrested after an unprovoked attack outside of Domino’s Pizza on Avenue C, according to the Bayonne Police Department.
Officers responded to 25th Street and Avenue C on a report of an assault in progress.
Robert Mahne, 24, was taken into custody from the area of 25th Street and Avenue C, police said.
Upon arrival, they met with an off-duty police officer who had witnessed Mahne allegedly assaulting the man outside of 578 Avenue C, according to authorities.
According to police, the victim was walking to his car after exiting Domino’s Pizza. Then Mahne, unprovoked, allegedly punched him several times about the head before being stopped by the off-duty officer, police said.
Mahne was placed under arrest for simple assault and was also arrested on an outstanding warrant issued out of the HC Sheriff’s Office.
Police said the victim refused medical treatment at the scene.
