A mass was held Sept. 12 at St Aedan’s Church, Jersey City, for Ellen Rose Nestor, 95, formerly of Jersey City. She passed away Sept. 8. Rose was born and educated in Ireland and emigrated to the United States. She attended the Traphagen School of Fashion and Design in New York City. During her married life, Rose and her husband Joseph were active members of St Aloysius Parish. For many years they held weekly prayer and discussion groups in their homes during the Lent and Advent seasons. Rose is preceded in death by her husband Joseph M. Nestor, her grandson Adam Vazir, her parents John and Brigid Flynn (nee McCartan), her siblings Francis, Patrick, Rev. John Flynn, Philip, James, Brigid Quinn and Mary Branagan. Rose is survived by her children Toni and Aman Vazir, Liz and Pat Long, Joe and Janice Nestor, Clare Nestor and Sheila Riley. Rose is also survived by her sister Sr. Kevin Marie Flynn, a member of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. Rose leaves behind her grandchildren Patrick and Nikki Long, Joseph and Becca Long, Lauren and Adam Kuznia, Michael and Brigitte Long, Caitlin Long, Alex Long, Kelsey Nestor, Joseph Nestor, Brittany and Jon Nieves, Haley Nestor, Sam Vazir, Sheila Vazir, Mary Riley and Kerri Riley, great-grandchildren Patrick and Lyla Long, Rose, Kelly and Caragh Kuznia, Kellen and Donovan Long and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
