Amazon Logistics will open a new delivery station at 105 Avenue A.

“The City of Bayonne welcomes Amazon to our community,” Mayor James Davis said. “The company is locating its operations in the southwestern corner of Bayonne, which was an important industrial center during the 20th century. We look forward to the jobs and investment that Amazon will bring to our city as we continue a new era of growth in the 21st century.”

Delivery stations enable Amazon Logistics to add capacity and flexibility to Amazon’s delivery capabilities.

The 188,000-square-foot delivery station will allow Amazon to speed up deliveries in Hudson County. The facility is expected to open this year.

It will create hundreds of full- and part-time jobs, which will pay a minimum of $15.75 per hour and offer various benefits packages from day one.

“We are excited to continue to invest in New Jersey with a new delivery station that will provide efficient delivery for customers, and create hundreds of job opportunities for the talented workforce,” said Amazon Spokesperson Emily Hawkins.

Growing the Garden State

Over the past decade, Amazon has been investing in New Jersey. At one point, the company considered Newark as an option for a new headquarters.

Since 2010, Amazon has created more than 34,000 jobs in New Jersey and invested more than $14.5 billion across the state, including infrastructure and compensation, according to Amazon.

These investments have contributed an additional $14.7 billion to the New Jersey economy, according to Amazon. It has reportedly helped create approximately 30,000 indirect jobs on top of Amazon’s direct hires, from jobs in construction and logistics to professional services.

According to Amazon, more than 49,500 independent authors and small and medium businesses in New Jersey are selling to customers in Amazon’s store, creating thousands of additional jobs across the state.
