Jersey City swears in 30 new police officers

Jersey City swore in 30 new police officers on Dec. 20 to the Jersey City Police Department. The newest class of officers includes 4 females, 14 Hispanic officers, 11 White officers, and three African American officers.

CarePoint Health activates first biplane in Hudson County

CarePoint Health hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Dec. 21 for the reopening of the renovated Interventional Lab at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, which marked the installation of the first biplane machine in Hudson County, a medical imaging technology.

Hoboken receives perfect score from Human Rights Campaign for LGBTQ+ policies

Hoboken received a perfect 100 percent rating from the Human Rights Campaign for it’s LGBTQ+ policies and laws. This is the fourth year the city received the score.

North Bergen extends testing hours

Due to a significant surge in cases, hours have been extended at FastMed Urgent Care and the Braddock Park testing site in North Bergen. No appointments are necessary. New hours are Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the FastMed Urgent Care at 7511 Bergenline Ave. Hours at the Braddock Park Site are 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Vaccines available in Union City

Vaccines are available at Mother Seton School at 1501 New York Avenue on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Walk-ins are available.

Vaccines are also available at the Union City Housing Authority at 3911 Kennedy Blvd at the pavilion in the rear of building on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Walk-ins available.

Smoke alarms available in WNY

Free two-in-one carbon monoxide and smoke alarms are available to West New York residents. The alarms must be installed by a Fire Prevention employee, at no cost. To schedule installation, contact the Fire Prevention office at 201.295.5220 between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., email, or visit the Fire Prevention office at 6015 Tyler Place.

Free parking in North Bergen

North Bergen and the township’s Parking Authority will provide free three-hour parking at all meters through Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022. Metered parking regulations will resume on Monday, Jan. 3.
