Saint Peter’s Prep freshmen win Magis Awards

Saint Peter’s Preparatory School Principal Chris Caulfield announced that twenty freshmen in the class of 2025 were selected as the winners of the Magis Awards, which recognizes outstanding freshmen for their emerging leadership among their class. The following Hudson County residents were recognized: Samer Saleh (Bayonne), Daniel Nemeth Szerdai, Finn Getz, and Declan Schultz (Hoboken), Blake Flores-Duncan, Henry Eig, Joseph Fiore, Akshay Kumar, Evan Nguyen, Kyle Oh, Feliz Puig Seppalainen (Jersey City), Aayush Sherchan (Weehawken), and Corey Greenfield and Aneel Ward (West New York).

Preliminary approval for waterfront redevelopment 

The Bayonne Planning Board has given the initial okay for a redeveloper to construct a luxury residential building on the Newark Bay waterfront. During a recent meeting, the board voted unanimously to grant preliminary site plan approval for the six-story, 180-unit residential building and to allow the consolidation of two adjacent lots by redeveloper Bayonne Luxury Waterwalk, LLC.

New movie filmed at Bayonne High School

Recently in Bayonne, GHB Productions shot part of the tentatively titled film “Girl Haunts Boy.” The film will tell the story of a teenager named Cole, who, after his father’s untimely death, moves to a new town, only to find that his new home is haunted by Bea. She is the fun-loving, adventurous ghost of a teenage girl from the 1920s.

Produce vouchers available for low-income seniors

Produce market vouchers are available for low-income seniors through the Bayonne Office On Aging. The vouchers would enable qualified seniors to purchase New Jersey-grown fresh fruit and vegetables at the Bayonne Farmers’ Market and other approved locations. Participating farmers at the Bayonne Farmers’ Market sell produce that is eligible for the voucher program.

Library expands Summer Reading Program

This year, Bayonne Public Library is moving the Summer Reading Program online and expanding it to all ages. From babies to adults, the library has a summer reading program for everyone. All age levels are eligible to earn prizes when they log their reading or participate in activities at the library.
