The gambler on the road takes on Bitcoin roulette sites

Bitcoin roulette sites

The Gambler on the Road series is live! This time around, Lucia is on a trip to the legendary AC Boardwalk, looking to find out where people play crypto roulette games and learn more about the industry in general.

A few years back, the idea of playing roulette with Bitcoin might’ve sounded like a gamble itself. Combining such a classic, vintage casino game with modern technology might seem crazy, but it works. So, naturally, I wanted to find out more about crypto roulette gambling.

That’s why I took a trip to Atlantic City. As we all know, this city is one of the most popular places for land-based casinos, including roulette, so I thought it would be a good place to find out more about roulette in the virtual domain as well.

Now, I’m clued up and ready to share what I’ve found, including the top places to play crypto roulette online. Check out my report below.

Bitcoin roulette sites popular across the USA

  • Ignition: More players mentioned Ignition than any other casino
  • Bovada: Gamblers enjoy playing roulette on their phones here
  • Bitstarz: Niche crypto collectors raved about this site
  • Wild.io: Many players were keen on the welcome bonus here
  • MyStake: Tons of fun live roulette games

I received recommendations for tons of other crypto roulette sites, but due to the limited time I had, I couldn’t explore them all. Also, if you get to the end of this article still wanting to know more about online roulette with Bitcoin, you can always reach out to me. You’ll find my email address at the end of this article.

What I do

As a keen traveler and gambling enthusiast, I thought I’d combine my two passions in one project. So, a few years back, I started the “Gambler on the Road” series. With this, I wanted to show people the different faces of gambling in various places around the US and the world.

The original aim of the project was to check out land-based casinos and sports betting shops around the US. That was pretty fun for a while, but then I realized just how big the online gambling world was. When speaking to gamblers on my travels, I discovered more and more that not only is it a massive market, but the culture for it varies between states as well.

And then I decided to go international. This proved my point even further, as I found thriving online casinos and sports betting sites all around the world. I’ve been to various countries and will certainly be visiting more. So, join me in my recurring quest to find the best land-based AND online sportsbooks and casinos. We’re only just getting started!

“I’ve always been fascinated by how people experience sports betting and casino gambling. There’s a unique and exciting culture around both of these things, country to country and state to state. So, I set about documenting it in the most accessible way.”

More about my visit to Caesars Atlantic City

There aren’t many states better for gambling, both online and in person, than New Jersey. It was one of the first states to fully legalize all forms of it a few years back, and its rich history with land-based casinos is one of the key reasons for this. That was the main reason I chose to go there to learn more about BTC roulette, but of course, I wanted to check out some of the city’s casinos.

And that I did. I could sit here and talk to you for hours about all the different brick-and-mortar casinos I visited in the city, but that would make this the longest article in the world. So, allow me to tell you about my trip to the famous Caesars Atlantic City.

Wow, what a casino. It’s right on the main strip, so it’s surrounded by more hugely impressive casino buildings. But still, it manages to draw attention with its beautiful architecture and bright lights, so it was actually the first casino I decided to visit on my trip. On top of that, the casino is only 500 feet from the beach. So, next time, I might aim to go in the summer to drop into Caesars for a daytime session and then head down for a dip in the sea afterward. It sounds like a dreamy afternoon!

Is it the best casino I’ve ever been to? Probably not. Some of the far corners of the casinos and the corridors look a little tired compared to some other casinos in Atlantic City. It’s clear that less money is being spent on this venue than Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. But at the end of the day, I had a lot of fun there.

“I can’t think of any other casinos that offer so much gaming entertainment so close to the sea! It’s a great place for a vacation. That, combined with one of the best shopping malls on the East Coast, makes for a very entertaining stay.”

Reviewing the BTC roulette betting sites I checked out

The most popular Bitcoin roulette casino for many players: Ignition

Ignition Casino

Loads of players I spoke to were quick to recommend Ignition as a place to play some roulette crypto games. Sitting around some of the roulette tables in casinos on the strip, this name came up a lot in conversation. So, of course, I had to check it out for myself to see what the fuss was all about.

I could immediately see why people were interested in what this casino had to offer by looking at the welcome bonus. New players here will have the chance to get two 150% up to $1500 deposit matches if they choose to play with crypto. One of these is going to be for live poker (and Ignition’s live poker is very strong, by the way), and the other can be used to play some virtual roulette games.

Speaking of which, the choice of crypto games of roulette is very good here as well. I counted a total of over 5 live roulette games and seven non-live roulette games. There’s actually a great range of roulette variants as well. I particularly liked playing Dragon’s Roulette by RealTime Gaming. It brings a unique, colorful twist to the classic game.

However, Ignition doesn’t quite match up when it comes to cryptocurrency variety, as it offers fewer options compared to other sites on the list. While many competitors support a wider range of digital currencies, Ignition sticks to the basics, which might not appeal to players looking for more crypto choices.

“It makes a lot of sense why players like Ignition. The site’s design closely mirrors the look and feel of the most popular land-based casinos, and its game selection rivals the titles found at those venues. Just remember that you’ll have to stick to the popular cryptocurrencies here.”

The go-to mobile casino site for playing roulette: Bovada

bovada Casino

As I was conducting my research, I found a few players using their mobiles to play casino games. I had to find out what the most popular casino site was for this, considering how popular mobile casino gaming is nowadays. And the name that came back to me the most was Bovada.

It’s pretty clear why this site is so popular, because the Bitcoin roulette app is just so easy to use. It was easy for me to find my way around, and the classic theme looks really cool, even on my small, old phone screen.

I was able to play all of the Bovada roulette games on the mobile site as well, which is good news, as there are a lot of good ones. Non-live roulette options here include American Roulette Classic and European Roulette, so there’s something for everyone, no matter what your favorite type of roulette game is.

If you want to play live casino games, there are two different groups of them: Gold Tier Games and Dynamite Interactive. The latter has five live roulette games, including American and European roulette.

I managed to grab the huge crypto welcome bonus when I first played here, but that was the only bonus I could find for playing roulette games. Bovada’s main vertical is sports betting, and most offers here clearly reflect that.

“I spent a lot of time enjoying Bovada’s mobile platform, and I have to say, it’s a smooth ride. The gameplay is fast, the interface is super easy to use, and I love that I can play anytime, anywhere, even with an unsteady connection. But, if I’m being honest, I’d love to see more bonuses specifically for roulette — it’d make the experience even better!”

A favorite for niche crypto holders: Bitstarz

bitstarz casino

Real crypto fans have been talking a lot about Bitstarz as one of the best Bitcoin roulette sites. It’s won a few awards as a crypto casino as well, and part of the reason for that is the accessibility of cryptocurrencies to offer players.

There are over 500 cryptocurrencies to bank with at Bitstarz, which is pretty crazy! I don’t think I can even name 50 cryptos that I know of, but I can’t imagine there are many coins missing from this list. Thanks to how everything is set up, I found it easy to sign up for an account and place a deposit in the first place.

Payouts will be processed instantly at this Bitcoin roulette casino, which is what you’d expect from any reputable Bitcoin online casino. They happen automatically unless they’re over a certain amount. Any payouts I made here ended up back in my coin wallet in just a few minutes, which I was happy to see.

The one key thing letting Bitstarz down is that you won’t be able to access any live dealer games for it in some states. But it just about makes up for this by offering around 10 non-live roulette games, one of which is a Bitstarz original. A lot of the time, these original casino games can be quite gimmicky, but I really enjoyed playing this one thanks to its smooth and minimal design. Sometimes, that’s all you need from a game.

“BitStarz accepts over 500 coins — it’s like a crypto buffet! But while the game selection and crypto variety is top-notch, I’m a little disappointed that some states don’t have access to their live dealer roulette games.”

Most exciting crypto welcome bonus: Wild.io

wildio casino

Many crypto enthusiasts told me that the best Bitcoin roulette welcome bonus can be found at Wild.io. I looked into it, and found an offer worth up to $10,000 and 300 free spins. Not bad at all. In fact, this is one of the most generous offers I’ve ever seen from an online casino site, so it’s clear to see why people are talking so much about it.

After I claimed the offer, I checked out the range of roulette games wild.io has on its books. There are actually dozens of live casino games, some of which are pretty elite. You’ll just need to search through a few games from less well-known providers to get to them. That’s not to say that they’re bad games, but we can’t validate the quality of them quite so easily.

I also found non-live roulette games from Microgaming here, so you can be assured of some quality titles in that department, most of which are available on mobile. But unlike Bovada and some of the other sites here, I just couldn’t get over the poor mobile setup. My connection was always stable, so the occasional lag was frustrating and needed fixing.

“I really enjoyed Wild.io’s welcome bonus — it’s a great way to get started at a new site. But I did notice some occasional lag for mobile players. It’s a bit of a buzzkill, but overall, it’s still a solid experience for crypto roulette fans.”

Great variety of live and virtual roulette games: MyStake

MyStake Casino

If you prefer playing Bitcoin roulette at your own pace, MyStake is one of the leading sites with a lot of buzz. Bitcoin gambling roulette in non-live mode is just a little more relaxing, and that’s one of the key reasons crypto players rate it highly.

I counted over 50 non-live roulette games here, so playing roulette with Bitcoin at your own speed is very easy. The variations are plentiful, too. I particularly enjoyed playing French Roulette, as you don’t often see that option at online casinos. Neon Roulette is a pretty cool option for those looking for something aesthetically pleasing as well. Plus, the excellent Roulette X2 by Microgaming offers a few different rules that appealed to me when I checked it out.

There’s a lot going on in the live casino department at MyStake, too. You can play some pretty incredible live roulette games from Playtech. This is one of the best developers going, and they’ve provided some games with RTPs of 98% and higher. This should give you a better chance of boosting your bankroll compared to a lot of other Bitcoin roulette titles.

The welcome bonus here is a little limited compared to some of the competition, as I was offered a smaller bonus on my initial deposit — honestly, it just seemed like peanuts compared to the Wild.io offer. I didn’t even bother claiming after seeing that the wagering requirements were still high.

“Players were pleased by the variety of virtual roulette games and the dozens of live dealer tables at MyStake — there’s always something fresh to try. That said, I can’t help but wish that they offered bonuses with more value, especially for roulette!”

The online casino gaming status in the Garden State

It would have been rude of me to visit Atlantic City without doing a little research into the state of affairs of online gambling in the state. I already knew it was thriving, but seeing it firsthand only confirmed how much online gambling has taken off here. So, I had to find out how this all came about.

What I found out was very interesting indeed. I started by going back in time and discovering that the casino culture (and the online gambling industry in general) in New Jersey has been alive and well since all the way back in the 1970s when the first casino opened in Atlantic City. Resorts Casino was opened in 1978, and it gave birth to a massive gambling scene in the state.

This has been reflected in the city’s online gambling industry in recent years as well. Back in 2013, the U.S. government passed a ruling that allowed individual states to legalize online gambling, clearing the path for states to pass their own laws. Nevada, unsurprisingly, was the first to open its doors to online poker. But New Jersey and Delaware weren’t far behind, fully legalizing online casinos just a few weeks later.

Year Online Gambling Revenue (in billions) Mobile Betting Adoption (%) No. of Players (millions)
2018 0.298 50 0.7
2019 0.482 60 1.1
2020 0.933 80 1.4
2021 1.468 85 1.7
2022 1.742 90 1.9
2023 2.135 92 2.2
2024 2.455 95 2.5

These states were ahead of the curve when it came to online gambling long before many others, like Texas, eventually caught up. As a result, New Jersey’s online gambling industry has flourished. Today, there are plenty of online casinos for players to enjoy, and online gambling revenue in the state regularly exceeds $200 million a month, with the figure steadily continuing to rise.

A fairly recent development in New Jersey’s online gambling scene is mobile gaming. Players in the state have been quick to adopt mobile casino gaming. I found that the vast majority of players have used their mobile devices to play casino games. Now, over 90% of players in the state are active mobile casino users, as you can see in the above table.

Not only that, but more players — both locally and around the world, are embracing the world of Bitcoin roulette online!

Year Market Share of Crypto Gambling (%) No. of Casino Players Using Crypto
2018 1.50% 1.5 million
2019 3% 2.8 million
2020 5% 4.2 million
2021 7.50% 6.5 million
2022 10% 8.1 million
2023 12% 10 million
2024 15% 12 million

Land-based casinos in Atlantic City

As we all know, Atlantic City is a pretty fantastic place to find land-based casinos. In fact, it might be the best place to find land-based casinos in the US, other than Las Vegas itself. I was lucky enough to visit a few of these casinos myself, and I’d like to show you the options available if you choose to visit this exciting city.

If you’re planning a trip to Atlantic City sometime in the future, take a look at my list of the most popular casinos in the city.

Land-Based Casino  City Address
Caesars Atlantic City Atlantic City 2100 Pacific Ave, Atlantic City, NJ 08401, USA
Resorts Casino Atlantic City 1133 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ 08401, USA
Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel & Casino Atlantic City 1900 Pacific Ave, Atlantic City, NJ 08401, USA
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City Atlantic City 1000 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ 08401, USA
Ocean Resort Casino Atlantic City 500 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ 08401, USA

I already told you about my trip to Caesars, but that was just one of the casinos I was lucky enough to visit on my trip out to Atlantic City. The city is famous for its casinos for a reason, as there are a whole lot of great ones there. A little walk down the Boardwalk is quite an enchanting experience with all the casinos and their bright lights.

Sure, some of them are better than others, but at the end of the day, if you want to go for a great gambling trip (and be by the sea as opposed to the middle of the desert), this is a pretty cool place to go!

Wrapping up my crypto roulette gambling adventure

I had a blast on my latest trip to Atlantic City, which was a fantastic spot for checking out the best Bitcoin roulette games and sites. I spoke with many players to get the inside scoop on their favorite crypto roulette experiences, which helped me pinpoint the best options for players.

And all of that while having a super fun time in one of the best cities in the country! It’s awesome to see that the land-based roulette world is still doing so well despite an influx of online casinos and crypto roulette sites.

All in all, I’m glad to have found somewhere to play some real-world roulette again in the future for another mini-break. And in the meantime, I’ll certainly be enjoying the top crypto roulette sites I found on my trip. Until next time!
