On Thursday, September 25, the William J. Brennan Courthouse in Jersey City will host an evening of music and dance to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The courthouse rotunda, decorated with Hispanic heritage art, will turn into a stage for live performances and community gathering.
The night starts at 6:30 p.m. with David Cedeño and his Orchestra. After a six-month tour in Japan, he returns with his sextet and full 14-piece band. Known for his salsa versions of classics like Lady in Red and Sealed With a Kiss, Cedeño mixes salsa, jazz, merengue, and oldies with his trademark energy. His upcoming album, Back from Japan, was recorded before his tour and will be released soon in New York.
At 7:45 p.m., David Castellano and Flamenco Flavor bring a fresh, modern take on flamenco. Their show blends Spanish guitar, vocals, and choreography with bold costumes and rhythms that combine tradition with a contemporary twist. The group has performed across the U.S. and Latin America and is known for its fiery and crowd-pleasing performances.
The event takes place inside the historic Brennan Courthouse, built in 1910 and restored in 1985 after years of neglect. Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it’s a cultural landmark as well as a working courthouse.
Tickets are $30, with discounts for Hudson County employees and seniors. Free parking is available next to the courthouse after 6:00 p.m., first-come, first-served. The Journal Square PATH station is also a short walk away.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. The first show runs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by the second from 7:45 to 8:45 p.m. The evening ends at 9:00 p.m., after three hours of live music, dance, and celebration.
