Saturday, November 15 is a great day to get outside with your camera. From 3 to 6 p.m., we’ll be at Liberty State Park, right on the Hudson, to photograph the Manhattan skyline as the sun sets and the city lights come on. That short stretch of time—nautical twilight—has the best light for dramatic shots, and it’s something you really have to see in person.
The event takes place at 1 Audrey Zapp Drive in Jersey City. Photographer Rich Sherman will be leading the group and showing how to make the most of the changing light. It’s a three-hour, in-person session that costs $114.60.
You’ll need a tripod, plus wide-angle and zoom lenses. We’ll try longer shutter speeds, panoramas, and ways to catch the skyline’s reflections on the water.
We’ll start inside the Central New Jersey Train Terminal, taking photos of the old signs, flags, and ticket windows before moving out to the riverbank. Then we’ll wait for the perfect moment when the Manhattan skyline glows against that deep blue sky — the kind of scene every local photographer wants to capture at least once.
