The community is getting ready for a special night honoring Puerto Rico and our ancestors. It’s an event filled with music, culture, and the spirit of keeping traditions alive.

There will be live bomba and plena music, featuring the Minio Class Trio, along with dancing, singing, poetry, artisan vendors, raffles, a bar, and a dessert table. Musicians, artists, and friends from the area will gather to celebrate our heritage and share the rhythms that connect us.

  • Live bomba y plena

  • Dancing, singing, poetry

  • Artisan crafts and vendors

  • Raffles, bar, desserts

Everything takes place at Grace Church Van Vorst, 39 Erie Street, Jersey City, just a short walk from the Grove Street PATH Station. The organizers say the experience is meant to feel just like being back on the island. Seating is limited, so tickets should be purchased early.

Ticket prices are $23.18 for adults and $12.51 for children ages 6 to 12. All the money raised—100%—goes to the Segunda Quimbamba Folkloric Center (SQFC) to support their education programs. They have over 30 years of work dedicated to teaching and preserving Afro–Puerto Rican drum and dance traditions.

The event is on Friday, November 28, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM EST. Doors open at 7. It’s an evening to remember and honor our ancestors and to celebrate the powerful sound of bomba and plena. The organizers thank everyone for supporting the community and helping keep these traditions alive. Te veo allí. Wepa!
