This year the HoHoHoboken Daytime Bar Event comes back on Saturday, December 13. It’s the fourth year running, and people look forward to it because it’s an easy, fun way to spend the afternoon with friends and jump between bars without worrying about extra entry fees.
The event runs from 2pm to 8pm. You buy a ticket, check in at the bar listed on it, get your wristband, and then you’re free to move around to all the participating spots. Check-in opens right at 2pm and ends at 4pm, and you must check in first before going anywhere else. No other wristbands from other events will be accepted—this one is completely separate from Santacon, and Santacon tickets or bracelets won’t work at any of these venues.
The bar list covers a bunch of local favorites, all close enough to walk:
-
The Brass Rail – 135 Washington Street
-
Birch Hoboken – 92 River Street
-
Fat Taco Tequila Bar – 34 Newark Street
-
Green Rock – 70 Hudson Street
-
The Lola – 102 Sinatra Drive
-
McSwiggans – 110 1st Street
-
Mike’s Wild Moose Saloon – 90 River Street
-
River Street Garage – 80 River Street
-
Texas Arizona – 76 River Street
-
Union Hall – 333 River Street
-
Wicked Wolf – 120 Sinatra Drive
Everything is in Hoboken, NJ 07030. Most people choose a route and drift between bars depending on the crowd and music.
Tickets for all the early check-ins were priced at $19.03 each, including McSwiggans, Birch, Texas Arizona, River Street Garage, The Brass Rail, Fat Taco, Green Rock, The Lola, Wicked Wolf, and Union Hall. Mike’s Wild Moose Saloon listed the same price for its second release. Tickets do not include drinks, and they do not guarantee immediate entry if a bar hits full capacity. Once a place is full, you wait until people leave.
The event is strictly 21+. You need a valid, unexpired U.S. driver’s license or a valid passport. No photos of IDs, no copies, and nothing expired. If the venue can’t verify your ID, they can refuse entry, and no refund is given for that.
A few common questions:
-
You can check in after 2pm, but lines may be longer.
-
You cannot check in before 2pm, except maybe within 30 minutes.
-
No wristbands are sold on the event day.
-
If you don’t have a ticket, some bars may still let you in but may charge a cover. Each bar sets its own cover price.
-
If you bought multiple tickets, your group can check in as long as you’re there with them.
-
Friends without tickets can still come but may have to pay covers at each place.
-
No specific dress code, though holiday outfits are common.
-
Don’t bring alcohol with you—open containers and public drinking come with heavy fines, and public urination is enforced strongly.
-
Refunds for illness may be possible unless it’s within 24 hours of the event.
Everything wraps at 8pm, and from there people usually head to dinner or continue the night elsewhere. For questions, the organizers can be contacted at [email protected].
