Key Takeaways
  • Curators Choice 2025 runs September 12–27, 2025, at ART150 Gallery, Studio #282, in Jersey City.
  • Nine artists were chosen through Pro Arts’ Meet the Curators program.
  • Curator Wes Sherman focuses on works that join technical skill with meaning and human depth.

Artists Featured in Curators Choice 2025 Exhibition

The 2025 exhibition will feature nine artists: Allan Gorman, Ann Vollum, Brad Terhune, Gwen Yip, Injoo Whang, Jean-Paul Picard, Josué Morales Urbina, and Nanette Reynolds Beachner.

All participating artists were selected through Pro Arts’ Meet the Curators program, an initiative open to both members and non-members. Each participant may meet with up to three curators or gallerists in one-on-one reviews. At the conclusion of the program, each curator selects one artist they believe presented a top portfolio; any chosen will make up the annual September exhibition.

Curator Wes Sherman’s Vision for the Exhibition

The exhibition is curated by Wes Sherman, who described his approach in a written statement. He explained that his process is based on contemporary vision, material mastery, and close attention to human experience. His focus is on works that address urgent questions of the present while remaining relevant beyond their time.

Sherman stated that while technical skill is important, the integration of medium and meaning is more critical. He described materials as a vital language that should expand both the emotional and conceptual depth of the artwork. His goal is to present art that goes beyond surface appearance, creating space for empathy, reflection, and an understanding of human life.
