Hudson County Community College (HCCC), located in Jersey City, New Jersey, is preparing for a yearlong celebration to recognize its 50th Anniversary. The theme, “50 Years of Excellence: Fifty and Forward!” will guide the events, beginning in September 2025 and continue through September 2026. The milestone year will close with the opening of the college’s new eleven-story Center for Student Success, a project designed to expand student support and community resources.
HCCC President Dr. Christopher Reber explained that the college’s 50th Anniversary is a milestone too meaningful to be honored with only a handful of events. He explained that a full year is needed to honor the college’s history, its people, and its many achievements. He also shared that the Golden Anniversary is a chance to look forward, with new programs, services, and resources that will strengthen learning and improve life in the community.

Kick-off Party on September 9, 2025
The anniversary will begin with a big celebration on September 9, 2025. The day will start with an afternoon gathering inside one of the main campus buildings. Students, staff, and community members will come together to enjoy music, free gifts, art tours, a display about the college’s history, and the opening of a time capsule created to honor this special year.
At 5:00 p.m., the party will move outside to a nearby plaza where the evening will turn into a lively street festival. There will be dancing, a celebratory toast, and a chance for everyone to sing along together. A guest DJ, who has close family ties to a famous music group, will provide the entertainment. The night will also include a raffle and other fun activities that bring the community together.
Additional 2025 Anniversary Events
Beyond the September kickoff, Hudson County Community College has scheduled several anniversary events for later in the year:
- October 18, 2025 – 50th Anniversary Homecoming Block Party and Open House
- November 13, 2025 – 50th Anniversary Alumni Networking Night
- December 4, 2025 – 50th Anniversary Foundation Gala at the Culinary Conference Center
These gatherings are planned to bring together alumni, current students, faculty, and community members in celebration of the college’s history and continued growth.
