Hoboken Prepares for Annual Green Fair on October 4 at Church Square Park

Free Green Fair at Church Square Park

The City of Hoboken and the Hoboken Green Team have announced the return of the Hoboken Green Fair. The event is set for Saturday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Church Square Park in central Hoboken. Admission is free.

The Green Fair aims to inspire residents to build greener habits in daily life. This year’s program will highlight environmentally conscious products and services, smart ways to conserve water and energy, and practical steps to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

Church Square Park will host local vendors, nonprofit groups, and sustainable businesses offering hands-on demonstrations, educational resources, and eco-friendly goods. Visitors can also expect interactive activities and giveaways that keep sustainability approachable and family-friendly.

According to the City of Hoboken, the fair is a chance for the community to come together, learn simple changes that support a more sustainable lifestyle, and take climate action seriously to help ensure a greener future for the city.

Key Takeaways
  • The Hoboken Green Fair takes place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. at Church Square Park.
  • Vendors can apply to participate, and businesses can join the Green Business Recognition Program to gain visibility and benefits.
  • Hoboken’s Climate Action Plan targets net-zero energy by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2050.

Vendor and Business Applications Now Open

Local vendors interested in participating can apply online at https://seam.ly/mFWhiytQ. Approved businesses will be able to connect directly with the community while showcasing products and services that support a sustainable lifestyle.

The City has also opened applications for the Green Business Recognition Program, managed by the volunteer-led Hoboken Green Team. The program recognizes businesses that commit to practices such as:

  • Cutting down on waste
  • Recycling items that are otherwise hard to recycle
  • Using energy-efficient lighting
  • Purchasing in bulk to reduce packaging
  • Supporting environmental causes

Recognized businesses receive a Green Business decal for storefronts, a digital badge for online use, complimentary vendor space at the Green Fair, and promotional placement on the City of Hoboken’s website. Applications can be submitted at https://seam.ly/VxVAntyR.

Building on Hoboken’s Climate Action Plan

The Green Fair and the business program support Hoboken’s Climate Action Plan, launched by Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla in April 2019. The plan sets goals for the city to be carbon neutral by 2050 and to use only net-zero energy by 2030.

To advance these goals, Hoboken has rolled out several initiatives, including:

  • Expanding the residential composting drop-off program
  • Launching a textile recycling program
  • Upgrading municipal buildings with energy-efficient systems
  • Electrifying the municipal vehicle fleet
  • Supporting community access to solar energy

Community Involvement Through the Hoboken Green Team

Behind the City’s environmental programming is the Hoboken Green Team, a volunteer group that advises officials on sustainability policy, leads public outreach, and promotes eco-friendly habits.

Community members who want to get involved can contact Katie Smith at [email protected].
