Our community will once again come together for The Sickle Cell Association of New Jersey’s 13th Annual Statewide Sickle Cell Disease Symposium. This event brings patients, families, and healthcare professionals together to learn, share experiences, and support each other. The goal is straightforward — improve understanding, treatment, and care for everyone affected by sickle cell disease in New Jersey.
There will be helpful sessions on the latest research and treatment updates, conversations with doctors, nurses, social workers, and hospital staff, plus time to connect with others facing similar challenges. Guests can also take part in the Lunch and Learn, enjoy the Youth Research Expedition, and explore the Liberty Science Center’s exhibit halls. The Dr. Charles F. Whitten Awards will also be presented to recognize outstanding service in the sickle cell community.
The symposium will be held at the Liberty Science Center, located at 222 Jersey City Boulevard in Jersey City, NJ 07305.
Admission is free. Parking vouchers and museum admission are included at no cost. If you live in South Jersey and need help getting there, travel assistance is available — call Darlene Young at 862-371-7138 for details.
This event takes place on November 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST. It runs for about five and a half hours, and sponsors include Novo Nordisk, Pfizer Sickle Cell Speaks / TogetherForRare.com, and CVS. If sickle cell touches your life or the life of someone you care about, this is a day worth attending.
