On Saturday, December 14, the 2024 Gingerbread House Decorating Celebration is set to bring families and friends together for a fun-filled holiday event. This special day will be full of laughter, tasty treats, and activities everyone will enjoy. It’s a part of the annual holiday tradition, and this year it’s going to be bigger and better.
The event will take place at Plainfield High School, located at 950 Park Avenue in Plainfield, NJ. This spot was chosen because it has plenty of space for all the fun activities planned. Guests can look forward to decorating gingerbread houses, so make sure to bring your favorite candy supplies to help create your holiday masterpiece. There will also be a delicious brunch buffet and a special hot cocoa bar with all the toppings you could want.
A special guest, Soul Santa Solomon, will join the celebration. He’s known for creating the popular “Santa Slide” dance and the “Rollin’ song,” so have your cameras ready for this unique and soulful Santa experience. Make sure to wear your favorite ugly Christmas sweater and take part in the Ugly Sweater Soul Parade, a perfect time to show off your holiday style. Photo booths will be set up to help you capture these fun memories, and there will be a scrapbook activity to show support for your favorite HBCUs.
There will also be crafts, musical activities, lots of prizes, and fun for the whole family. Special presentations that celebrate culture, including Kwanzaa, HBCUs, and the Divine Nine, will make the day even more meaningful. Everyone is encouraged to help with a community service project by bringing new winter hats, gloves, scarves, socks for men and women, and laundry detergent pods to donate to those in need.
Tickets for this event come at two price points. For $50, you will get admission, a gingerbread house to decorate, brunch, and access to all activities while supplies last. For $25, you will get admission, brunch, and all other activities, but no gingerbread house. Parking will be in the large lot behind Plainfield High School, on Kenyon Avenue. Look for the gingerbread signs to find your way.
We want everyone to join in, so if you or your family need any special accommodations, please let us know by emailing guccjackandjill@yahoo.com with the subject: GBH We Are One.
We can’t wait to see everyone there for a day full of fun, food, music, and memories!
