On Monday, October 20, the community is invited to gather for a special evening dedicated to celebrating people with autism and disabilities. The night is part of National Disability Awareness & Employment Month and is meant to bring people together while raising awareness about inclusion and the challenges many face in finding meaningful jobs. Hosting the event is Dr. Kerry Magro, a professional speaker, author, and autistic adult who was once nonspeaking as a child. Through his nonprofit, KFM Making a Difference, he has awarded 162 scholarships to autistic students, provided grants for special education teachers, and supported small businesses that hire people with disabilities.
The event will take place at Porta’s Monk Room, 135 Newark Avenue, Jersey City, NJ 07302.
It is free to attend and open to everyone. Guests can enjoy light appetizers and a cash bar, with time set aside for networking, community connections, and short remarks from organizers and sponsors. Conversations will focus on disability employment and the importance of inclusive hiring, with opportunities throughout the night to support KFM Making a Difference.
While admission costs nothing, this is also a fundraiser. Sponsorships start at $75, with higher levels offering more visibility:
-
Community Friend ($75): name in the printed program and social media thank-you.
-
Bronze ($250): quarter-page in the program, logo or name on flyers and social media, recognition during the program.
-
Silver ($500): half-page in the program, logo on flyers, Eventbrite, and social media, recognition in opening remarks, and space for materials at a sponsor table.
-
Gold ($1,000): full-page in the program, premier logo placement, recognition in opening and closing remarks, optional 2–3 minutes of sponsor remarks, and logo on event signage and donation stations.
The evening runs from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., giving everyone three hours to connect, celebrate, and take part in building a more inclusive future.
