Barami, Inc., located at 128 Sussex Street in Jersey City, cordially invites the artistic community and art lovers to an upcoming exhibition of the renowned Georgian artist, Orari Arisheli Laliashvili.
At this exhibition, you will have a unique opportunity to see some of the paintings created by the artist over the last 40 years. Through his art, you’ll discover a world “Where Colors Whisper…”
These works were either created in, or inspired by, his home country, the Republic of Georgia, located in the Caucasus Mountains.
As the great Paul Gauguin once said, “Color! What a deep and mysterious language, the language of dreams.”

ar Arisheli (Lalishvili), a Georgian artist living in the United States, was born on May 11, 1954, in Georgia. He graduated from the Nikoloz Art School and attended the incomplete course at the Academy of Fine Arts. Between 1984 and 1987, he worked in the Sioni Cathedral in Tbilisi, together with Levan Tsutsqiridze, the author and artist of the concept. The cathedral, one of the oldest and national symbols, holds frescoes, inscriptions, and architectural forms that provide significant insight into the country’s cultural and spiritual history. Otar Arisheli worked on the monumental painting on the western wall of the cathedral, executing the painting with a composition that reflects a contemporary interpretation, connecting ecclesiastical tradition with new artistic forms.

During the Soviet era, Otari Arisheli (Laliashvili) did not participate in group exhibitions. His non-participation was a form of political protest, a demand for freedom in a time when art was subjected to strict ideological control (Soviet censorship limited themes). Later, he held solo exhibitions in Rustavi and participated in group exhibitions. In 2021, he had a solo exhibition at the “Art Gallery Aivani” in Tbilisi. “Aivani” is not just a gallery; it is a historic house with a synthesis of modern and traditional wooden and brick textures. In 2023, he participated in a group exhibition at Madatar Gallery in New York.

Otari Arisheli’s works are held in private collections, including that of Hans Heiner Buhr, a German gallerist and collector residing in Georgia, who owns about 50 of his works. His works are also in private collections in Austria, Germany, and France. Otar Arisheli has been living with his wife in the United States, specifically in New York, since 2019. In 2020, he created a piece titled “September 11” to commemorate the tragic event and honor the American people.
