Freedy Johnston’s Tuesday Night Live is set for Tuesday, November 4, at Little City Books in Hoboken, featuring special guest Warren Zanes. It’s a relaxed, one-hour event from 8 to 9 p.m. EST, blending live music and conversation about the new film “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere,” based on Zanes’ book.
The gathering takes place at Little City Books, 100 Bloomfield Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030—a cozy spot that regularly hosts small, friendly events for local music lovers.
Admission is free, but space is limited. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and guests should arrive by 7:50 p.m. Donations will be accepted, and Warren’s books will be available for purchase.
Freedy Johnston, originally from Kansas, moved to New York in the 1980s, signing with Bar None Records in Hoboken. His 1992 album Can You Fly marked his breakthrough, followed by This Perfect World (1994) produced by Butch Vig, which featured the hit “Bad Reputation” and earned him Rolling Stone’s Songwriter of the Year. His work appears in Kingpin, Kicking and Screaming, and Heavy. His latest album, On the Road to You (2022), was released on 40 Below Records.
Dr. Warren Zanes is a New York Times bestselling author and Grammy-nominated producer. He wrote Dusty in Memphis, Petty: The Biography, and Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska, the basis for a 20th Century Studios film starring Jeremy Allen White. A former member of The Del Fuegos, Zanes has released four solo albums and worked on Twenty Feet from Stardom (Oscar-winning) and PBS’s Soundbreaking (Grammy-nominated). His recent PBS special on Nebraska features Lucinda Williams, Noah Kahan, Emmylou Harris, The Lumineers, Lyle Lovett, and Eric Church.
