Before the day even starts, you can already feel that familiar December energy in the neighborhood—the kind that makes people want to slow down, meet up, and enjoy something simple together. That’s what Gift and Gather is meant to be: a relaxed holiday pop-up where people can come in, look around, and enjoy good company.
For one afternoon, Neighbors Studio will turn into a small, cozy bookstore with plenty to explore. There will be:
• Books for all ages—board books, picture books, middle grade, young adult, and a full mix of adult genres.
• A gently-used books section.
• Book Haven Books totes and book-themed merch.
• Hot coffee, hot chocolate, and tea from Opie Coffee Co.
• Fresh cookies from Hungry Dre’s Kitchen.
• A selection of wholesale items from local small businesses, with the full list coming soon.
Everything takes place at Neighbors Studio, 370 Pacific Avenue in Jersey City. The studio has spent the year running grant workshops, food pantry support, shoe drives, and other community programs. Donations at the event—completely optional—will go directly toward helping them continue their work in 2026.
The event is free to attend. It’s meant to be simple, welcoming, and useful during a busy season. Book Haven Books, known for promoting diverse stories and hosting community events like the Grown Up Book Fair and Quiet Reading Club, will be there throughout the day.
Gift and Gather happens on Saturday, December 13, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. EST. Six easygoing hours to shop, sip something warm, pick up gifts, and spend time with neighbors.
