This Saturday night brings a familiar local sound to a familiar local space, as Michael Hilliard and The Working Class play live at 902 Brewing in Jersey City. It’s an easygoing night built around live music, good beer, and a band that’s been part of the local scene for years.
The group plays a full three-hour set of rootsy folk-rock and Americana, with songs that come from real experiences and lean more honest than polished. The band grew out of material Michael Hilliard wrote in Jersey City and now includes RJ Martin on bass and Seth Pacini on drums. Since releasing their debut EP Nothing Changes in 2021, produced by John Agnello of Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr., they’ve been playing steadily around the NYC area and are known for strong live shows and straightforward storytelling.
The show takes place at 902 Brewing Company, 101 Pacific Avenue, in the Bergen-Lafayette section of Jersey City. The brewery is dog-friendly and relaxed, with free on-site parking and additional street parking nearby. The Garfield Avenue Light Rail station is a short walk for anyone coming by public transit.
Admission is free, with general entry and no tickets needed. The event is in person and open to anyone looking for a low-key Saturday night out.
