In response to the growing opioid crisis, which continues to devastate families and communities across the nation, a free Narcan training event will be held to equip residents with essential skills to prevent opioid overdoses. This hands-on training aims to empower participants with life-saving knowledge and tools.

Event Details

This event is organized by the Hudson Regional Health Commission in collaboration with Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School’s Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services and the Kearny Health Department. The training will cover a range of topics including overdose prevention strategies, recognizing the signs and symptoms of an overdose, administering Naloxone (Narcan), performing rescue breathing, understanding overdose prevention legal rights, and accessing support information and resources. Additionally, the first 25 attendees who sign up will receive a free Naloxone kit (one per person).

Event Location

The training will take place at the Kearny Health Department, located at 645 Kearny Ave., Kearny, NJ 07032. Street parking is available for those attending the event.

Event Price and Conditions

This training session is completely free of charge. However, participants must be at least 18 years old to attend. There are no prerequisites required for this training.
