Senator Sacco, others celebrate swearing-in of new Superior Court judge

Longtime attorney Tara Schillari Rich was sworn in as a New Jersey Superior Court Judge at a ceremony last month, according to a press release. Rich’s father, Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari, her mother, sister, and other family members attended the occasion. Sen. Nicholas Sacco, who has known Rich for years, was also at the ceremony. He said, “Judge Schillari Rich’s experience and sharp legal mind made her an extremely strong choice for the position and I am certain that she will serve with distinction.”

Before Gov. Christopher Christie nominated her for the position, Rich had amassed a long resume of legal experience. She graduated magna cum laude from the Catholic University of America and has a Juris Doctorate Degree from the Seton Hall School of Law. Rich has also worked as a clerk for NJ Superior Court Judge Thomas N. Lyons, before she joined the Shapiro, Croland, Reiser, Apfel & Di Iorio, LLP law firm. Every year since 2006, she has been recognized as a Super-Lawyers-Rising Star. Rich has also lectured for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
