It is hard to believe that over a year has passed since our Independent administration took office. It has been a very successful year in so many ways, and I would like to thank everyone who has helped make Secaucus an even better place to live, work and raise a family.
We have worked very hard to enhance the lives of all our residents by providing a wide range of activities and services, while saving money by eliminating waste and duplication. The financial changes we made during the past year, as well as the greater variety of services we’ve provided, have all been well documented.
We have been able to accomplish these changes because we are determined to put our people before politics. We believe the result has been a much happier and satisfying living experience for the residents of our community. Up to now, there has been almost no political bickering, and our community has enjoyed a peaceful atmosphere. Every single day, residents call or stop me on the street to tell me how satisfied they are with the town. Even one of our opposing candidates stated on election night that the town was being run well and that she was very pleased with the job we are doing.
Right now we are working on the 2011 budget, preparing our usual springtime maintenance and improvements of our public buildings and grounds, and beginning the many sports, cultural and neighborhood activities which our community enjoys. We welcome any serious suggestions as to how we can make life in Secaucus more enjoyable for you and your family.
Our community is not without problems, especially as it relates to the challenges our young men and women face in today’s stressful world. A community is only as strong and successful as the people in it. I urge all Secaucus residents to continue supporting our Town and each other. And we pledge to continue our efforts on your behalf, putting people before politics. Thanks to you, our neighbors, for your continued support.
Mayor Mike Gonnelli,
