A funeral mass was celebrated Feb. 4 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Jersey City, for Lourdes Lim Morton, 97, of Union City. She passed away Jan. 31. She was predeceased by her husband of many years, Joseph Morton, and had no children of her own. Lourdes was born in Calbayog Samar, Philippines to Lim Ching Huan (AKA Juan Ybanez Lim) from Amoy, China and Demetria Manzanares Fua of Bantayan, Cebu Philippines. Of the 14 siblings, only six are still living. She graduated from Far Eastern University (Manila) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce, majoring in accounting in 1940 and was among the top ten in the CPA board examination of 1941. She moved to the United States in 1947 to pursue graduate studies at NYU where she earned her Master Degree in Economics, majoring in Statistics. She worked with the Demography Section at the United Nations in New York for more than thirty three years. Services arranged by the Bromirski Funeral Home, Jersey City.
