Parks in Union City, West New York will get funds for improvements

Union City will get $495,025 from the county’s Open Space Trust Funds allocated for the upcoming year.

At their meeting in early November, the Hudson County Freeholders approved over $6,830,488 to 16 Open Space Trust Grantees for numerous recreation/park improvements and Historic Preservation Projects throughout Hudson County.

The city of Union City was awarded funds for 38th Street Playground improvements and Washington Park improvements.

West New York was awarded funds for Recreation and Safety Enhancements at Patricia McEldowney Field in the amount of $500,000.

Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center releases schedule of parenting classes

Hackensack Meridian Health Palisades Medical Center will be holding a variety of parenting classes. For more information, contact the hospital, in North Bergen.

For the Childbirth Education Series, a two-day course, the cost is $125 per couple if delivering at Palisades Medical Center; $150 if delivering elsewhere. It runs December 2018 Series, classes on Dec. 1 and Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. January 2019 Series, classes on Jan. 12 and Jan. 19, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. February 2019 Series, classes on Feb. 16 and Feb. 23, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

For Newborn Baby Care Classes, the cost is $35 per couple if delivering at Palisades Medical Center; $50 if delivering elsewhere. It runs Dec. 18, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 11, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

For Keys To Successful Breastfeeding, the cost is $35 per couple if delivering at Palisades Medical Center; $50 if delivering elsewhere. It runs Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 28, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. March 2, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

For Sibling Preparation for Birth Classes, the cost is $25 per family.
