A Mass of Christian Burial was held July 10th at Holy Innocents Church, Neptune, for Rita Marie Savage of Wall Township, formerly of Jersey City. She died July 5th at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Rita was a physical education and English teacher for over 40 years with the Jersey City School System. She was also the Supervisor of the Physical Education Department for the entire Jersey City High School system for a number of years. She moved to Wall Twp. upon her retirement. Rita was a communicant of St. Aloysius Church, Jersey City and upon moving to Wall Township she became a member of Holy Innocents Parish in Neptune, NJ. She will always be remembered for her great sense of humor and quick wit by all who had the pleasure to make her acquaintance. Rita loved to tell the stories of the various adventures she had throughout her long life and we are all wiser for having listened to them and her legacy will carry on though this oral history. She is survived by her sister, Mary E. Savage of Wall and her brother Robert Savage, of Gwynedd, PA, as well as seven nieces and many great nieces and nephews. Services arranged by O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.
