After a disappointing 34-32 lose to the Bears, the (5-4) Colts set their sights on downing the (1-7) Jets as they face off in the JCC of Bayonne’s Indoor Flag Footballs Jr. Division. Both teams traded scores throughout the bout with yet another epic speed duel between the Colts’ Ahmad McGill and the Jets’ Alejandro “See Ya” Cifuentes. McGill put his squad on the board first with a wire to wire dash followed by FB Chris Ballance’s two point grab for an 8-0 Colts’lead. The Jets answered as Alejandro Cifuentes sprinted to paydirt for a 30 yard TD run and two point sweep. Three plays later, the Colts took a 16-8 lead as Ahmad McGill rushed full court for a TD before adding the two point conversion with a leaping catch. With Declan McCormick at the helm, the Jets went to the air as McCormick rifled a TD pass to “See Ya” Cifuentes to cut the Colts’ lead to 16-14. For the Colts, the QB duties fell upon Kyle Arano and Chris Ballance who each handled the task well as Arano pitched to McGill for another TD run while Ballance tossed to McGill for a two point strike. Down 24-14, the Jets’ Aaliyana Cifuentes, Alanis Concepcion, and the Stack brothers, Benjamin and Owen stretched the Colts’ defense to set up a long TD run by Alejandro Cifuentes, cutting the Colts’ lead to 24-20. The high powered sprinters duel continued as Alejandro Cifuentes gave his Jets’ squad a 28-24 lead on a coast to coast TD dash and a two point blast around right end. The Jets’ slim 4 point advantage was short lived as the Colts’ Ahmad McGill hit the 30 point mark for the second straight time with a long TD run and two point jaunt. Trailing 32-28 the Jets turned the final 14 seconds into a thriller as their defense made it 32-30 with a huge stop for a safety. With two ticks left on the clock and the ball in their hands, the Jets had one last shot but the Colts Kasper Hooks and Michael Aziz helped the Colts hold on with a midcourt stop to seal a 32-30 Colts win.
