Dear Editor:

I write to ask for the support of all Hoboken voters this Tuesday, Nov. 7. As the only candidate for mayor who was part of the Hoboken turn-around from the beginning, I know how far we’ve come and how much further we can and must go.

In those challenging times, when Hoboken was close to financial collapse, I knew something had to be done. That’s why I worked with Mayor Zimmer as a leader on the City Council for eight years to restore fiscal responsibility to Hoboken, to implement a plan to save our hospital, to upgrade existing parks and to build new ones, and to bring qualified professionals to City Hall. Through making the difficult decisions such as reorganizing our top heavy police and fire departments, we took our bond rating from junk to AA+, putting our City on a sound fiscal path.

Further, you don’t have to take what I plan to do as mayor on faith alone. I have put forward detailed plans on the major issues facing the City. These include plans for upgrading the City’s aging infrastructure, for reducing flooding and making Hoboken better prepared for storms, holding the line on property taxes and for securing more open space and parks.

For families like yours and mine, I’ll continue fighting to make Hoboken stronger for this generation and the next. I’m raising my kids in Hoboken, and I hope my kids will raise their children in Hoboken too. I want to make sure Hoboken continues to grow as a place where you can settle down, raise a family and retire. If we continue working together, and building on our progress, Hoboken’s best days are ahead.

I ask for your vote on Tuesday for Mayor and for your support of my at-large Council slate, Councilman Jim Doyle, Emily Jabbour and John Allen.
