A celebration of life service took place June 14 at Salem Baptist Church, Jersey City, for Miriam Turner, 86 of Jersey City. She passed away June 4. She was a deaconess at Salem Baptist Church, Jersey City, and a member of Salem over 80 years. Miriam retired after 30 years of service at Western Electric Company as clerk requisition typist. She was a life member of The Pioneers of America. Miriam was an active member of P.S. 34 Parents Council and City-wide Parents Council. Some of Miriam’s favorite past time activities were watching her favorite movies and going to family reunions. Family and friends could always find Miriam wearing one of her stylish hats!  She was the wife of the late Matthew Turner, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Valerie Williams, (Ronald) Teresa A. Blair (Ernest) and Matthew Turner, Jr.; her sister Gloria Crutcher; her grandchildren Danielle Blair, Ernest Blair, Jr., Aaren Blair, Maya Williams, Ronald Williams, Jr.; also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
