Funeral services took place April 11 for Pauline Ercolano She passed away April 8. Pauline was born Aug. 18, 1926, in Jersey City, to the late Lucia (Lucy) Prestia (née Fasano). She was originally from the Marion Section of Jersey City and there she met and married Pietro (Peter) J. Ercolano. Eventually the couple opened Erk’s restaurant on 3rd Street in Downtown Jersey City, where Pauline often assisted her husband, the chef, by waiting tables. Before retiring, Pauline worked as a food service manager for the Jersey City Board of Education, where she cherished her co-workers and enjoyed sharing her culinary skills. Pauline was preceded in death by her mother, Lucia Prestia (née Fasano); her husband Pietro (Peter) J. Ercolano, and her three daughters Rosemarie Marino, Lucille Ercolano, and Debra Ercolano. She leaves, to cherish her memory, her granddaughter Gina Marie DiRenzi (née Crincoli), her husband George DiRenzi (her favorite caretaker) and her two great-grandsons Nicco DiRenzi and Dane DiRenzi. Also: her brother, Kenneth Prestia and sister-in-law Mary Prestia, her nephews Kenneth Prestia Jr. and Anthony Prestia. She also leaves behind a brother-in-law Enrico (Herky) Ercolano and a sister-in-law Laura Catani (née Ercolano) as well as many nieces and nephews. Finally, she leaves behind a dear friend, Jacqueline (Jackie) Lanni and Margie and Deborah Costa (nee Calabrese) who she considered her extended family members. Services arranged by the Riotto Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Jersey City.
