The Bayonne School District recently announced it will offer Pre-K3 for the 2020 to 2021 School Year.
The program will provide instruction based on the reopening plan approved by the state. Currently, the Bayonne Board of Education approved three plans for school reopening, favoring virtual-only instruction.
If the virtual-only plan is rejected by the state, the district will use the hybrid plan using in-person and virtual instruction.
To be eligible for the Pre-K3 program, children must turn 3 on or before October 1, 2020. There are 168 spots available for 3-year-old Pre-K.
The district will offer free full-day Pre-K3 programs at three locations: Preschool Playhouse at 625 Ave. C; Community Day Nursery at 591 Broadway; and the Jewish Community Center at 1050 Kennedy Blvd.
Random lottery selection
Selection for Pre-K3 will be through a random online lottery from August 3 to 10 at 4 p.m.
Residents who have received confirmation of acceptance to the previous Pre-K3 Lottery need not reapply.
Parents and legal guardians must be Bayonne residents.
Residents should go bboed.org and click on the Registration Department for more information.
The drawing will take place on Tuesday, August 11 at 10 a.m.
If a child is selected, parents or legal guardians must log into their Lotterease account to accept the assignment by 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 13.
Residents will receive email confirmation with instructions for online registration through the Bayonne School District.
Necessary documents include the student’s birth certificate and or passport; the student’s immunization record both front and back which must show student’s name and must be in English; a photo ID from parent or legal guardian; the pre-registration confirmation number; and three current proofs of Bayonne residency in parent’s and or legal guardian’s name.
Acceptable proof documents include a PSE&G bill; cable TV/internet/phone bill; water bill; credit card or bank statement; driver’s license or registration; deed, mortgage statement, rental or homeowner’s insurance; and health insurance statement.
Pre-K4 program placement, for four-year-olds, is ongoing at bobbed.org.
All Bayonne School District Pre-K offerings are dependent upon, and subject to, the availability of New Jersey Department of Education funds to the Bayonne School District. Programs are subject to change based on NJ Department of Education funding for the 2020 to 2021 school year, according to the school district.
