A local developer has launched a contest that would see the winner’s mural displayed on the side of a soon-to-be residential building, along with a $5,000 cash prize.
NR Living is an entity of New Jersey-based National Realty Investment Advisors (NRIA) and a developer of luxury real estate on the East Coast. In partnership with Guttenberg Arts, it’s invited artists in Guttenberg and the Hudson County area to participate in the Guttenberg Green Urban Art Mural Contest, running through April 15.
The winner will have their artwork prominently displayed in a mural-sized reproduction on the exterior of the Green Urban building. Green Urban is a new luxury lifestyle community in the heart of Guttenberg’s flourishing arts district. The Green Urban building is at 6903 Adams St., Guttenberg.
The deadline for the contest, which is free and open to the public, is 4 p.m., April 15.
Art as inspiration
The winner will be chosen by three local judges, including Matt Barteluce, director of Guttenberg Arts, and announced at the Green Urban’s groundbreaking on April 30.
“We are so excited to able to support local Guttenberg artists in this way,” said Glenn La Mattina, SVP of Operations and Properties with NR Living. “Our area artists provide the community with inspiration, enthusiasm, and character. We hope that by displaying their artwork on the new Green Urban building, we can further embody the vibrant lifestyle of the community.”
All subject matters are welcomed; the “Green Urban” logo is required. Only visual art mediums, such as paintings and drawings will be considered and must be submitted as JPGs.
Works must be at least 768 pixels on the longest side and not exceed 1200 pixels. For rules and guidelines, visit www.nrliving.com.
“Our main mission at Guttenberg Arts is to give our local artists the exposure they deserve,” said Matt Barteluce. “Art is such an important part of our community and, after a challenging year, we are happy to be partnering with NRIA to expand on that mission.”
The nine-story luxury lifestyle rental building will feature a full entertainment roof deck overlooking the Hudson River, a gym and Peloton room, built-in advanced and eco-friendly technologies, and pandemic safety designs and features.
