Stevens serves up tennis court access

Fully vaccinated Hoboken residents can now use four tennis courts at Stevens Institute of Technology through Aug. 22.

Hoboken residents over 18 will have access to the courts on the northern end of campus between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., Friday through Sunday.

Those who would like to sign up must first register at http://www.hobokennj.gov/stevenstennis, and provide contact information, government identification or a utility bill indicating a Hoboken address, and proof of full vaccination.

The city will process the form, and residents will have to show an approval email from the city before picking up the required Stevens visitor ID card.

After receiving the approval email, the ID card can be picked up at the Schaefer Athletic Center’s reception desk Monday through Thursday between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., and on Friday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The reception desk at the center is in the main lobby building and can only be accessed through the front entrance.

No parking will be available on campus for those who wish to use the tennis courts.

All posted rules at the tennis facility must be followed. A one-hour time limit is in effect when the courts are full, and players may not prop open the door to the courts or let other individuals oto the courts.

All players must swipe in to the facility on their own. Anyone who is found in violation of these rules will lose court privileges for the remainder of the summer.

“Thanks to Hoboken’s strong partnership with Stevens, our fully vaccinated residents will now have access during the summer to Stevens’ tennis courts,” said Mayor Ravi Bhalla. “This is another way Hoboken is providing additional recreation options for our residents, and I thank President Farvardin and his team for working with us to make this possible.”
